How Poshmark fees work

Poshmark keeps it blunt. Anything under $15 costs a flat $2.95, and anything at $15 or above costs 20 percent of the sale. That is the steepest cut of any major resale platform, which changes what is worth listing there. For sales under $15, set the fee percentage to zero and put 2.95 in the fixed fee field to get the right number.

The flat fee makes cheap items brutal

A $10 sale on Poshmark leaves you $7.05 before you have subtracted what you paid for the piece or the mailer it went out in. If you sourced it for $4, you cleared about $2 for photographing, listing, and packing it. Low priced items are where the flat fee does real damage, so either bundle them into a larger order or list them somewhere the fee is proportional.

Price above the fee, not around it

Because the commission is a flat 20 percent above $15, the way to make Poshmark work is higher price points rather than volume of cheap pieces. Run a $20 item and a $60 item through the calculator and compare what each nets against the same amount of work. The listing effort is identical, so the higher priced piece is doing four times the job.

When a calculator stops being enough

A calculator answers one question at a time. Running a reselling business means knowing which stores keep returning, which categories carry your profit, how long each piece has been sitting, and what a whole month actually netted. Hauly does this math automatically across every sale and every platform, flags dead stock before you forget about it, and keeps your numbers on every device.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Poshmark take from a sale?+
A flat $2.95 on sales under $15, and 20 percent on anything $15 and above. There are no listing fees, so the commission is the whole cost of selling there.
How do I calculate a Poshmark sale under $15?+
Set the fee percentage to 0 and put 2.95 in the fixed fee field. The calculator will then subtract the flat charge instead of a percentage.
Who pays for shipping on Poshmark?+
The buyer pays a flat shipping rate at checkout, so the label does not normally come out of your side unless you choose to discount it. If you do offer a shipping discount, put that amount in the shipping you paid field.
Is this calculator free?+
Completely. There is no login, no email, and no trial. Nothing you type is sent anywhere or stored, it is all calculated in your browser as you type.
Do fees apply to the shipping the buyer paid?+
On most marketplaces, yes. The percentage is usually charged on the total the buyer paid, shipping included, which is why this calculator applies the fee to the sale price plus any shipping the buyer covered. If your platform charges on the item price only, put the shipping the buyer paid in the shipping field and set your fee percentage to match your actual payout.
What is a good profit margin for reselling?+
Most vintage sellers aim for at least a 2x return on what they paid and a net margin of 40 to 60 percent after every fee. A thinner margin is still fine if the piece turns quickly, because cash back in your pocket buys the next haul. A high margin item that sits for eight months costs you more than it looks.
